Boundary Wire Options

How much boundary or perimeter wire do I need for a PAC Fence System?

A PAC Fence Control Unit range comes as standard to cover up to 6 acres, but by simply flicking a switch on the control unit you can activate a booster to faciliate coverage for up to 20 acres. The booster will also allow greater coverage of up to 40 acres by using thicker 1.5 or 2.5 mm2 gauge wire.

Our PAC Fence Systems come with either 100m or 200m reels of boundary wire, which is enough to cover most layouts, that is

100m will cover 0.25 acre, enough to cover a small urban garden or perimeter of 80m*

200m will cover 0.5 acre, enough to cover a large urban garden or perimeter of 180m*

200m plus, will cover upto 40 acres, enough to cover an extra large garden or perimeter of 1600m*

* guidelines only

If the area you wish to contain in is larger or you wish to create 'no-go' zones, you can purchase additional boundary wire to facilitate this. PACDOG stock extra reels of wire (0.75mm 2 gauge wire) in 100m and 200m reels. We also supply loop wire connection kits to join the extra wire if required.

Next Steps
. Measure the area you wish to contain in.
. If there is an area you want to exclude, measure around it and include this is your area total.
. Make sure to give yourself an extra few meters in your calculations to connect to the control unit (we recommend 20m).
. With the help of the guide below determine how many 100m or 200m reels of wire you will need.

1.5 or 2.5 mm 2 gauge wire can be purchased from a local electrical wholesaler.
